What's Up With J...
It's been a busy week. I'm currently working on the brand new cover. At the moment I'm writing this, it can go a lot of different ways but I'm starting to see a direction. It's leading me towards a more challenging direction but I'm up for it. I can't wait to see how it turns out and hope you guys are excited about it as well! With last week's gig getting cancelled, I am even more ready for the upcoming shows this week. I can't wait to get on the road, get some miles in, and see all of you again. Besides the new cover, I'm also working on writing up new sets for this weekend's shows. All this compounded with everything I'm working on and doing outside of music, can make some of it seem a bit overwhelming. In all this I think I found my word for the year....Balance. While it's nice to be busy it's also important to plan your down time, to recover and do some self care. Some of my favorites are but not limited to: cleaning house, gaming, taking a nice walk, meditation, having a fire, and a good epsom salt bath. I try to incorporate at least one of these every day and it seems to really help. What are some of your favorite self care activities? I'd love to hear them. With no certainty of what this year may hold, I hope you all are able to find a sense of balance as well. As always....to anyone who reads this.....I love you very much and can't wait to see some of you this weekend! -J
What's Up With Kyle...
I've finished my preliminary writing and tracking for this month's new cover song. I was unsure about a few parts, and on top of that we noticed a few technical issues so I may need to go back and do a few pick ups. However, J's working over the session now and said he's hearing a few directions it could take and those tracks I was having issues with might not even be necessary. It's nice when things have a way of working themselves out.
It's always fun getting to work on these projects for Patreon every month and see how they take shape. Sometimes, they turn out exactly the way we plan and sometimes they become something totally different. I'm really excited for this one! You guys picked a good one!
Due to a snowstorm in SC, we had to cancel last week's show in Anderson so I'm especially looking forward to this week's upcoming shows. We do have a make up date on the books for Spring and we'll be announcing it shortly! We did get a nice clear night in GA after the storms and a few friends invited me to go star gazing with their telescope. I snapped a pick of Jupiter through the lens. It's a little hard to see in the photo but I could actually make out some of the orange bands and it's giant spot. The little dots around it are 4 of it's bigger moons: Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Europa has water on it and that may mean that it has life! Wouldn't that be crazy?
I hope you're having a good week. It's easy to feel discouraged this time of year after those New Year's resolutions become a reality. You got this. I'm proud of you.
-Kyle
